ENJOY A VILLA VACATION IN UMBRIA
A vacation in Umbria has got to be the best vacation in the world !
Centrally located, we offer 40 villas in and around the historic city of Spoleto and 1 in Foligno.
Your villa will be in a prime location and, therefore, your vacation can take the form of staying put in an amazingly beautiful environment or using your villa as a base to explore the rest of Umbria and, even, the rest of Italy.
Umbria's principal cities include Spoleto, Assisi, Orvieto, Perugia and Rieti.
However, the tiny city of Foligno is also worth using as your vacation base since, not only is it a wonderful market town, brimming with fashionable shops, bars and restaurants – much of it pedestrian, it is a mere 15 minutes drive from Assisi, Montefalco and Bevagna. Please see our villa for rental there, the only vacation villa on the Umbrian vacation rental market, in Foligno.
Umbria’s capital, Perugia, is famed for its chocolate. Take a tour bus or prepare for knuckle clenching Italian drivers if you opt to rent a car.
Staying in our Foligno or Spoleto vacation villas, you do not need a car because you are only 10 mins walk from both train stations, from where you can get to most places. Assisi's Basilica has a wealth of treasures, including works by Giotto. The town is also home to the crypt of St. Clare, patron saint of television, and, thought to have been the lover of St Francis of Assisi.
But, I would not recommend Assisi for a vacation – too touristy.
The least touristy places to spend your vacation, if you want to integrate into local Italian community, are Spoleto and Foligno, in both of which, we can offer you every type of villa, with a pool, terraces, gardens, parks, in the city centre, in the mountains…..whatever you dream of, all at reasonable rates.
Part of your vacation might include following in the foot-steps of St Francis, passing our 2 villas in the Valico Dei Pellegrini : Villa Marianna : Country House, and, at the highest point, Vista Del Mondo : Country House, originally an ancient hermitage (now restored), where it is believed St. Francis stayed, when he journeyed between Assisi and Rieti, the most historic and religiously significant route in Italy, opened officially by us, a few years ago.
